Fun with summer conferences in 2019

Want to nerd out about design? Well, it turns out I'll be speaking at a number of conferences this summer, which can make that in-person nerding out much easier.

Here's where you can catch me over the next few months. If we're at the same event, be sure to say hi. If you aren't at any of these conferences, though, I'll be sure to share highlights from the events on Twitter.

Also, if you know of any great restaurants in these cities, I'd love to get some recommendations well in advance of my trips... well, except for that last conference. I'm pretty good with the options in my home town (although if you're going to that one, I'm happy to pass on restaurant recommendations of my own).

June 10-12 - Learning DevCamp - Salt Lake City
I'm finally making my first trip out to Learning DevCamp! I've heard great things about it, so this should be a fun way to kick off the summer. While I'm there I'll be doing two sessions: Cheap and Free Design Tools and Resources and Simple Strategies for Solving L&D Visual Design Challenges. Also, if you're reading this before May 10th you can use the registration discount code DevCampFriend2019 to save $100 off your registration.

June 13-14 - CreativePro Week - Seattle
And I have to cut my time short in Salt Lake City as I'm also speaking at the Click: Presentation Design Conference part of the larger CreativePro Week event in Seattle. I was an attendee at this event last year and deeply enjoyed it. If you do work in the presentation space or work in eLearning and are looking for inspiration from related fields, this is well worth checking out. I'll be there speaking about Presentation Design and eLearning, which have a delightful amount of crossover with each other as well as with graphic design. If you're interested in attending, you can save $100 off of registration with the code CPWSPEAKER.

June 25-27 - Realities360 - San Jose
Realities360 is the eLearning Guild's conference on using AR and VR for learning, so I'll be on-site supporting the event and just generally geeking out about immersive tech and the creative projects people are making with it. The easiest place to find me will be the VR Learning Lab in the Expo Hall, but I'll also be facilitating panels, livetweeting the keynotes, and supporting speakers. Realities360 has an early registration discount of $100 until May 10th, so be sure to take advantage of that if you're interested in coming.

July 13 - Canadian eLearning Conference - Toronto
This conference is a fun one, and not just because I can get there by subway instead of a plane (or because you can see my Captain America dress in one of their website header images this year). I've been going to this event for a few years now and love the community feel of it. I'll also be sharing my talk on Simple Strategies for Solving L&D Visual Design Challenges here, so if you want to see it, can't make it out to Salt Lake City, but can make it to Toronto, then you're in luck. If you're interested, you can register for the conference here.

    What's This Blog about?

This blog, like Clever Raptor, is all about the intersection of learning and design - and there's a LOT in that intersection. You'll find everything from practical design tips, technology reviews, presentation ideas, conference posts, thoughts about how learning connects to other fields, my own working out loud, and more.
